About

The Unseen Generation is a movement led by Zanele Sbongile Radebe (19) to empower young people who feel invisible in society. The Unseen Generation is an advocacy and a movement that gives voice to the overlooked, the unheard, and the underestimated youth of today. It stands for the teenagers who feel invisible in classrooms, in conversations, and in opportunities — not because they lack potential, but because the world hasn’t made space to truly see them. We represent the quiet dreamers, the late bloomers, the emotionally strong, and those rising from difficult places. Our mission is to restore confidence, dignity, and visibility to young people who’ve been made to feel like they don’t belong. Through storytelling, empowerment, emotional healing, and opportunities for growth, we aim to prove that being unseen does not mean being unworthy. This is more than a message. It’s a reminder: You don’t need to be loud to be powerful. You just need to be seen.

How The Unseen Generation Was Born

The Unseen Generation was born from a personal shift — a move that opened my eyes and stirred my purpose. In 2024, I moved from Gauteng to QwaQwa. I didn’t expect that such a change in location would reveal such a deep truth. I quickly noticed the difference in resources, opportunities, and exposure available to the youth here. Where I came from, we had more access — to guidance, platforms, support systems. But here? Many young people who are full of potential, yet living in silence, unnoticed. They are showing up every day, pushing through circumstances, dreaming quietly — and yet, no one sees them.

That’s when I realized: this isn’t just a QwaQwa issue — it’s a national one. Maybe even global. There are unseen youth everywhere. Not because they have less to offer, but because their environment gives them less visibility, less support, less belief. And that’s when the mission became clear: To find them. Hear them. Empower them.

To build a movement that reminds every overlooked teenager that they are still enough, still capable, and still worthy of being seen. This is how The Unseen Generation was born — from one move, one moment, and one promise: I may not see all of you yet. But I will do everything I can to make sure the world does.

Our Mission

The mission of The UNSEEN Generation is to empower and uplift young people who feel overlooked, uncertain, or unseen in today’s fast-moving world. We are committed to creating safe spaces where youth can freely explore their identity, speak their truth, and unlock their potential without fear of judgment or rejection. Through digital empowerment, leadership development, mentorship, community outreach, and authentic storytelling, we aim to bridge the gap between invisibility and impact. We work to shift mindsets, spark conversations, and inspire change, especially in areas like identity, career direction, education access, and youth employment. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every young person deserves to be seen, to be heard, and to be reminded that they matter. This is more than a movement. It is a home for those who feel like they don’t belong anywhere else. Because at The UNSEEN Generation, you belong, you are powerful, and you were never meant to go unnoticed.

Our Vision

As The UNSEEN Generation, we envision a future where no young person feels invisible, voiceless, or left behind. We dream of a world where the yout, regardless of background, circumstance, or struggle, are seen, celebrated, and supported in every space they walk into. A world where identity is embraced, dreams are validated, and every young voice has a platform to be heard and a path to lead. We see a generation that rises not despite their challenges, but because of them. A generation that turns pain into purpose, silence into strength, and invisibility into influence. Our vision is to be a light for those still finding their way and a reminder that being unseen does not mean being unworthy.
